Beandri Booysen was a young woman from South Africa who lived with Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome, a very rare disease that makes the body age much faster than normal. She was diagnosed as a baby, and doctors did not expect her to live into her teens.
At 19 years old, Beandri’s journey sadly came to an end, but she lived with incredible bravery and positivity. She attended school, shared her life openly on social media, and dreamed of becoming a teacher one day.
Her TikTok videos, filled with motivation and education about progeria, attracted nearly 300,000 followers who admired her courage. Beandri’s message to always love and believe in yourself resonated far beyond her home.
In December 2024, after a sudden health emergency, her mother announced her passing and paid tribute to Beandri’s strength and role in raising awareness for those living with special needs.
